"This wasn't found at Jalopnik, however".
Sure. It just
happened
to have the same title.

ah yes, the old "we just happened to find this video on youtube" gambit. The fact that they've built in this much plausible deniability just makes it all the more obvious that they are lifting the content.
What does it hurt them to list the source?

Also this comment was funny
1) they jumped in to defend themselves
2) they did so without revealing the actual source or are doubling down on some game of semantics wherein oppo isn't technically Jalopnik. DERP

I'm guessing it'd hurt them because the majority of their content is from other sites.
I'm not even being sarcastic, that's a legit possibility.

Jalopnik is a news aggregate. They often get their stories from other sources as well. The whole news to news to news cycle continues to churn on the 'net.

Yeah I was thinking that, too. But if people are already on the site, they're a little bit of a captive audience and are there for some reason beyond or in addition to the content itself. As long as you have some unique angle, you should be fine.
But if all you're actually doing is plagiarizing and offer no other benefits (great community, irreverent humor, interesting insights) then yeah you'll eventually be screwed.
I don't read that site as a rule because I've seen them do this before, but I take it this is pretty much all they're good for. The fact that they're UK-based probably covers their tracks a bit, too.

Yeah but Jalopnik and Autoblog and whoever else will actually credit the source. They have done this before, too, and I think also from JBH

I think the main difference here is that Jalopnik credits its sources, whereas Car Throttle hasn't.

I just replied to that thread too, I'd be surprised if the "author" replies.

I think they'll just claim they saw it on your youtube channel.

True, but I posted this video to Jalopnik first, who then blasted it out to the world.
When the world sees my vids on Jalopnik, the world should credit Jalopnik with having this first. Then again, the world is a fucked up place, so that's not likely gonna happen.
